The countdown is on to 2016. Holy cow, it is almost here. I’ve have a fantastic 2015 and I cannot wait to see what this next year brings! We have a lot of plans, yet minimal real plans….if that makes sense. There are plenty of things we want to do and a few trips we have planned (shockingly), yet we have a lot of things not set in stone. It will be a good year.
Our kitchen and living room are in disarray right now. I have wanted to get the upstairs painted ever since we had the basement painted and it is finally happening! I’m super stoked. They are about halfway done and I love it already. I chose two very neutral brown colors for all the walls so I am anxious to see it complete.
One thing I am slightly sad about is that I had to take our Christmas tree and garland around the stairway railing down so they could paint. I tie our Christmas cards to the garland and like keeping that up a while to enjoy the cards, but down it went Monday night in a rush! I kept all the pictures for my bulletin board but I will miss it. I will also miss my Christmas tree. I really liked the way it looked this year.
First world problems. That is all I have here, first world problems.
So we do not have class this week (and we didn’t last week) so I have been trying a few different workouts. I did one from NicoleWilkins.com that focused on the hamstrings and glutes. It was a butt kicker (pun intended). I really liked it, but it was quite difficult. I am foam rolling and stretching like crazy because I want to do a quad focused workout Thursday or Friday.
Monday I did hamstrings and glutes. Tuesday was this chest workout. I trained back this morning. Tomorrow or Friday I will most likely do a quad workout and leave Saturday for shoulders, biceps, & triceps. I fit a little cardio in today, but I am not too worried about it this week. I am really working on lifting heavy and intensely. I’m definitely like it!
This Chest Supersets workout is pretty self explanatory with three supersets each repeated three times through. The bench press at the very beginning is meant to be pretty heavy so make sure to warm up beforehand. Start with a weight that you can complete 12 reps with, then add some weight if possible and hit 10 reps. Add more weight and get 8 reps. Finally add more weight and bust out 6 final reps. I started a little heavy and couldn’t increase the weight from 8 to 6. Oh well, it was mighty difficult and that is what counts!
By the time I got to the push-ups at the end I was pretty wiped out. I managed a few regular push-ups and then dropped to my knees for a few more. It was killer.
Whenever I do the incline dumbbell fly after I’ve done some other heavy chest exercises I laugh because I can see my chest muscles freaking out a little bit….jumping all around and twitching. It is pretty entertaining and I can tell they are fatigued.
I tried to incorporate different inclines, different grips, and different equipment to hit the areas of the chest in different ways. Plus it keeps things interesting that way!
Below are links to the exercises if you are unfamiliar.
