Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 66

August 16, 2017 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Meal Prep Ideas

Meal prep ideas this week included a little more cooking that I’ve done the past few weeks. I didn’t go crazy, but used my oven and microwave to prepare a few foods!

To make things easier on me I split cooking up into two different sessions. I had some extra time on Saturday so I prepared a few things and finished the rest on Sunday. It helped to not feel like I had to do it all on Sunday!

If you have questions about these meal prep ideas then please ask. Feel free to email me any questions at eatliftplayrepeat@gmail.com. [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 65

August 9, 2017 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Meal Prep Ideas

My weekend was a little crazy due to a two-day golf tournament. I had a little bit of time for meal prep ideas, but I was lacking in energy after a round of golf Saturday and another round Sunday.

Instead of skipping meal prep I decided to prepare some really easy foods. In fact, the only thing I cooked was hardboiled eggs! Sandwiches and a variety of convenient snacks will get me through the rest of the week.

A little planning can help a ton when it comes to meal prep ideas. If you are short of time, then plan to make simple foods that don’t require a lot of cooking! I’m still managing to eat healthy, clean eating foods all week without much effort. [Read more…]

6 Foods to Cook in Bulk and Freeze for Later

August 7, 2017 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Food to cook in bulk

Healthy eating can be more simple than you might think. Planning is a huge part of making healthy eating a success. One way to plan ahead is to have healthy foods pre-cooked and stored in the freezer. Here are six foods to cook in bulk and freeze for later.

Use these foods at a later time for last-minute dinners or for meal prep sessions when you don’t have a lot of time.

What are the benefits to cooking in bulk for later? Cooking foods in bulk can save you time later on. If you want chicken burritos for dinner, then you don’t need to bake the chicken because it is already cooked and in the freezer!

You can also save money by buying things like meat in bulk and keeping cooked portions in the freezer. If you find a good deal of meat then buy a bunch and keep it in the freezer!

My meal prep ideas included several no-cook recipes so that I wasn’t waiting on things to get done. I could move at a faster pace because nothing needed cooking time!

Day in the Life: Mel’s Clean Eating Meals [#77]

Mel's Clean Eating Meals

My clean eating meals lately have been more frequent and less “clean”, if you will. I’m now 8 months pregnant (32 weeks officially) and definitely needing to eat often!

I’ve been trying to keep my meals clean eating friendly, but I indulge in sweets a little more often than before. The thing about sugar is that the more you eat it the more you want it! Its a rough cycle, but I feel like if I want to indulge right now I can! [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 63

July 26, 2017 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Meal Prep Ideas

It has been a while since Donny grilled for me, but this week’s meal prep ideas do include some grilling!

I like when he grills because it saves me time (I can work on other meals inside) and it is less clean-up in the kitchen! Win-win, my friend.

One other benefit to grilling is the flavor. I love that grilled-charred taste that gets on the veggies and meat! It is not something you can get from roasting, that’s for sure. [Read more…]
