Workout Wednesday – 28-Method Bicep & Tricep

January 27, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

28-Method

Today’s workout uses a 28-method training technique. Why? Because today is my 28th birthday!!! It only makes sense, right?!?

I had never used the 28-method before and it was quite difficult! I have mentioned 21s before, where you do 7 half reps from the top, 7 half reps from the bottom, and 7 full reps. Well this is a similar technique, but taken one step further. [Read more…]

Peanut Butter & Banana Baked Oatmeal

Peanut Butter & Banana Baked Oatmeal

First of all, BRONCOS ARE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL! The game was a blast yesterday. It was quite intense the last 6 minutes…… Our defense played lights out and it was amazing!

We had a very busy weekend. We left work early on Friday and my surprise birthday evening started. Donny actually booked us a night stay at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. It is beautiful there! We had a great time. The hotel called a few days ahead of time and started these intimate dinners with alcohol pairings. They had an opening for us to do their whiskey pairing, which included a six-course meal with a different whiskey paired with each dish. Very cool! There were 20 people or so and the chef came to talk to us about each dish as well as the two whiskey experts for the hotel. Totally worth the money! We had a blast. [Read more…]

Day in the Life: Mel’s Meals [#1]

January 21, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Meals Collage

I decided to add a new weekly post! Instead of posting a new recipe, I’d rather share with you what my day looks like in terms of eating. Enter Day in the Life: Mel’s Meals posts. I’ll show you what I’m eating, when I’m eating, sometimes why I’m eating. I create recipes quite a bit, but it doesn’t really show you how I incorporate those recipes into my daily food intake. Plus a lot of times the recipes are fancier than my real, everyday diet. [Read more…]

Workout Wednesday: Back Training Mixed Methods

Back Training - Mixed Methods

Yesterday was a fun day, especially for a Tuesday! I got a new cell phone, which is always fun. I upgraded to the iPhone 6 and I like it so far. Not too different from the 5 so I can manage it for now!

Even more exciting than a new phone, we surprised my dad yesterday with an early birthday present. We managed to find four relatively-well priced tickets to the AFC Championship game this weekend as the Broncos take on the Patriots! [Read more…]

Hamburger Lettuce Wraps

January 18, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Hamburger Lettuce Wrap-edit

Let’s just say that Donny is quite the lucky guy these days! We went to the Fort Morgan Elks Lodge on Friday night for a chance to win Broncos tickets to the game yesterday. We were hanging out with a few of our friends before the drawing and they have these “pull-tab” tickets that you buy to win money (same idea as a scratch ticket). Some are 25 cent winners, some $1 winners, and a few bigger prizes. [Read more…]

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Dough Energy Bites

January 14, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Dough Bites - edit

Unfortunately I woke up this morning and was not a millionaire. No winning the PowerBall for the Edson’s. Too bad. We would have done some fun things with all those dollar bills!

It is pretty fun to talk about winning. We did at work a little bit and my dad decided we would buy a company jet. Only makes sense. We would use to mostly to go to all the away Broncos games… not necessarily radio things. [Read more…]

Workout Wednesday: Arms & Abs Circuit

January 13, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Arms and Abs Circuit

Do you watch The Bachelor? There is a small group of girls that I am friends with that get together each week to watch it. We actually haven’t gotten together for one it in quite a while (2 or 3 seasons maybe), but we did last night. We try to meet Tuesday nights and then watch the recording of Monday’s episode. At first we started watching it Monday night, but we would end up talking too much and miss a bunch!

It is really fun, even though I’m not a Bachelor-die-hard. We usually eat and drink wine and make fun of all the crazies on the show! There are a few on there that seem a bit whacko. Surprise, surprise. [Read more…]

Green Chile Smothered Burritos

January 11, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Green Chile Smothered Burritos-edit

We had a blast this weekend and Guard and Grace was amazing!!! We started with seafood towers, which included oysters, shrimp, crab, and lobster, and then some platters with burrata cheese, speck ham, and grilled bread. I barely touched the ham and cheese because I was all about that seafood (it is like being all about that bass, but different)! [Read more…]
