Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 50

April 26, 2017 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Meal Prep Ideas

My weekend wasn’t CRAZY busy, but I had some things to get done so I kept the meal prep ideas pretty easy this week!

We had a birthday party to be at Saturday afternoon so I did some meal prep when we got home, but finished it up on Sunday. Some weeks I can bust it all out at the same time, but others have to be split up. I’ve been doing a lot more of the splitting-it-up since I’ve been pregnant. It still gets done and I still have healthy foods, I just work it to my schedule and my desire to cook! [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 49

Meal Prep Ideas

Well my meal prep ideas lately have been not quite as intense as they were a little while ago. If you are signed up for my email list then you might already know…

Donny & I are having a baby! Yes, we are expecting our first child in September. We are really excited!

I feel really good, but lately it has sounded better to have more “snack-like” foods in the morning and in the afternoon, rather than multiple meals throughout the day. Maybe you didn’t notice at all, but in the afternoon I’ve been skipping meals like chicken & veggies and opting for things like cottage cheese! I went through a stage where chicken didn’t sound appealing (it tasted fine, but it didn’t sound good if I just thought about it) so I just avoided having any type of meat in the afternoons. Meal Prep Ideas

Personally, I prefer to make all of my healthy meals to enjoy throughout the week over the weekend. I have a million meal prep ideas and rotate those depending on what I am craving and what foods I have on hand that week.

I try to buy a variety of produce at the grocery store, plus stock up on clean eating items like whole grains, proteins and dairy. [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 47

Meal Prep Ideas

Each week varies in what I prepare during meal prep. Sometimes it is based on the amount of time I have available, but sometimes it is based on motivation. I have been wanting to try new recipes and meal prep ideas the last few weeks without spending the whole day in the kitchen.

Instead, I have been making a lunch for each day, then putting together two easy snacks to get me through the mid-morning and mid-afternoon slumps. [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 46

Meal Prep Ideas

Meal prep ideas can be as intense or as easy as you need them to be. I wasn’t wanting to get too wild and crazy in the kitchen this week, so I prepared TWO no-cook meals to last me the week. I made No-Cook Burrito Bowls for lunch and overnight oats  for a mid-morning snack! So simple, yet so delicious.

Some weeks I feel like cooking for a couple hours and preparing fun meals, but other times I want a relaxing Sunday with extra time for Mad Men! As you will soon find out… this was a Mad-Men-marathon type of weekend! [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 45

Meal Prep Ideas

For some reason I didn’t feel like cooking too much this week in terms of meal prep. I still wanted to use the kitchen and cook a few things, but didn’t want to spend four hours doing so.

Luckily, I knew I would feel this way so I bought food at the grocery store that needed very minimal cooking! Chopped salad needs zero cooking and I made zucchini noodles this week without sautéing them! Call me crazy, but they are just fine without being cooked. [Read more…]

Meal Prep Ideas

Meal prep this week took about four hours, from start to finish, but I did take some time in there to make some healthy blueberry muffins for my sister! My healthy meals this week involve a variety of protein and also a variety of vegetables!

One of my favorite meal prep ideas is to use a slow cooker. It is pretty much hands-off so you can prepare the rest of your food while the slow cooker works its magic! I actually made a recipe I found online and it was awesome! [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 43

March 8, 2017 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Meal Prep Ideas

After 5 weeks or so of having no kitchen, I am back in action! I managed to meal prep with a microwave and convenience foods while our kitchen was being remodeled, but I prefer actual cooking.

Since we hadn’t been able to cook for a little while, we also didn’t grocery shop and buy quite as much. However, I made up for it (and then some) this week! I’m happy that I can start sharing meal prep ideas with you again, but I’m even more excited that I get to eat meals throughout the day that weren’t microwaved and boring….. [Read more…]

Meal Prep Ideas

After 5+ weeks of having no kitchen we are finally back in business! The funny thing is that we have a functional kitchen again, yet both Donny & I will be gone during the week so we didn’t use it to meal prep!

I don’t need any real meals for the week due to lunch meetings and vacation, so I packed several snacks instead. This week’s meal prep (if you can call it that) required about 15 minutes! Hahaha I enjoy cooking and cannot wait to get back at it next week. [Read more…]

Grocery Shopping & Meal Prep Ideas – Week 41

Meal Prep Ideas

Donny & I are having our kitchen remodeled right now. It has been going on for the last four weeks or so, which means we’ve been without a kitchen for about a month! Honestly it hasn’t been too bad. We have all of our appliances installed now, so we actually got to do some cooking during meal prep!

Personally, I think meal prep helps me to eat healthy and clean. My meals are already prepared for the day, so I don’t have to grab unhealthy, convenient food because I’m starving. I take some time over the weekend to pack snacks and meals to last the workday. I have a million meal prep ideas depending on the time I have and what I feel like eating that week. [Read more…]
