Time for Anything & Everything Friday where I discuss five different (sometimes random) topics of my choice. They are generally health related, whether lifestyle, food, or fitness. Sometimes they are not (um, taco bed from last week) but it just depends what is going on in this head! Today I’m talking about my Easter appetizer, a new workout song, and ways to use leftover Easter eggs! Let’s get to it… [Read more…]
Day in the Life: Mel’s Meal [#9]
This week I chose to track what I ate on Monday. Donny went grocery shopping on Saturday for me so I didn’t have to go Sunday. He bought a ton of veggies and I was not mad about it! He grilled all the veggies this week including green beans, Brussels sprouts, zucchini, eggplant, and carrots. I made a grilled veggie salad for dinner Sunday night and it was fantastic! I highly recommend it. Alright, here is everything I ate on Monday. [Read more…]
Workout Wednesday – Lower Body Hamstring Focused
There was a big moment last night between Donny & Kevin. Kevin is still pretty terrified of Donny, but we are working on it. Donny will pull him up onto his lap and pet him, but Kevin never willingly jumps up there. Yet.
Last night Doug and Kevin were playing (as in Doug was chasing Kevin around the house). Kevin wanted to get away so he jumped onto the bed with Donny & I. Donny started talking to him and Kevin walked up and licked Donny’s hand! It may not seem like much, but this is a big deal! Kevin will barely even LOOK at Donny, let alone acknowledge him like that. Carrot Cake Cupcakes
We didn’t plan it on purpose, but we managed to schedule our Louisville trip so that we had two three-day weekends in a row! Both Lindsey & I took Monday off last week because we were flying home from Kentucky and then Good Friday is a company holiday. I definitely like four-day work weeks!
Good Friday is the only holiday that we get to take off and a lot of other businesses don’t. Lindsey and I have started a tradition of going to Denver for the day to hang out. It varies each year, but we’ve done massages, pedicures, manicures, shopping, went to Blackhawk, etc. This year we scheduled mani-pedis for Friday at one of our favorite spots the Sweet Life Nail Bar. It is super cute and they decorate with rustic doors that have been painted in different pastel colors. I really like it, plus their pedicures tend to last a long time! [Read more…]
Anything & Everything Friday – March 18th
I have thought this for a while… coffee does taste better on a Friday morning! Well, to me coffee tastes better on a Saturday morning while lounging on the couch in pajamas. But I dig Friday coffee too. How was your St. Patrick’s Day?! I would say mine was pretty uneventful. I did however remember to wear a green shirt and I ate plenty of green foods….as in veggies! I had broccoli & avocado for breakfast, broccoli again for lunch, Brussels sprouts for my mid-afternoon meal, and grilled green beans with dinner. Woah, tons of green veggies!
Time for Anything & Everything Friday. I’m discussing sleep deprivation, my new book club book, and the taco bed! Yes, the taco bed. [Read more…]
Day in the Life: Mel’s Meals [#8]
First of all, happy St. Patty’s Day! Any plans for today? Any green beers being consumed?!?! I think I had plenty this last weekend…..
Even though it was only three-ish days of vacation I definitely gained a couple pounds! I ate very different than my normal (even compared to other vacations) and drank a lot more (emphasis on a lot). I have been trying to keep it under control now that I’m back and get rid of those couple pounds. I’m not too worried honestly and have been drinking a lot of water to help with it too. It is going well so far! Here is what I ate this last Tuesday from start to finish….. [Read more…]
Workout Wednesday: Bicep-Tricep Supersets + 5 Minute Cardio
Happy Wednesday! More importantly happy birthday to my mom! She was almost a St. Patty’s Day baby, but not quite. Happy Birthday mom! I hope you have a great day.
This week’s workout combines strength supersets with a little cardio burst. The same format can be used for any training split or even a full body workout, but I chose to focus on biceps and triceps this particular day. Here is Bicep Tricep Supersets + 5-Minute Cardio. [Read more…]
Girls Trip 2016: Louisville, Kentucky
We had such a fun weekend in Louisville! We always have a good time, but this was one of the most fun we’ve had together. We toured Churchill Downs, partied our faces off during the Louisville St. Patrick’s Day Parade, toured the Louisville Slugger factory, and did some bourbon tasting. All of that, plus tons of catching up, laughing, and relaxing. It was such a good trip.
I do have a confession. Lindsey informed me that my Friday post said it was our 4th trip. It was actually our 5th trip! I completely forgot that we went to Green Bay, WI two years ago. We went to Phoenix, New Orleans, Green Bay, Austin, and now Louisville. I thought I was missing one on Friday, but couldn’t think of what I was missing…. I decided to commit to four and turns out I was wrong! Haha regardless….. here is how our trip went. [Read more…]
Anything & Everything Friday – March 11th
Congratulations on making it to Friday! I am super pumped. We leave on our 4th annual girls trip this evening and I am super pumped! I’ll tell you a little bit more about it below. Plus we are talking about things to add to smoothies and Peyton Manning’s retirement! Here goes….
1. Peyton Manning’s Retirement: Well Peyton Manning officially announced his retirement this week. Good for him. I am happy he went out on top, especially after the rough season he had and the injuries. His brother Eli put together this video as a tribute to Peyton. It is really cool! If you have a few minutes and haven’t already seen this then I think it is worth it. I found Eli Manning’s Video Tribute to Peyton on Huffington Post along with an article written by Ron Dicker. Day in the Life: Mel’s Meals [#7]
This week’s Day in the Life: Mel’s Meals post is everything I ate Tuesday of this week. I did really well and hit my macros almost exact. Then about 8:00pm I started getting hungry…. after analyzing if I was truly hungry or just bored/dehydrated I decided it was best to have a small snack before bed. I am actually glad I did. I could tell my body didn’t have enough food for the day, regardless of what my calories said….some days you just need more food! Anyway, here is everything I ate earlier this week. [Read more…]
