Anything & Everything Friday – November 27

November 27, 2015 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Black Friday at Pet Smart

Happy Friday! Did you go shopping this morning? Or do you plan to go today at all? Do you want to take those sweet puppies home like I do?!?!

It is time to talk about all the random things popping up in my head recently (at least what hasn’t been blocked by my turkey coma). Let’s dive right in to this week’s Anything & Everything Friday! This week it is tea, holiday weight gain, and of course Black Friday!

1.Parent’s 31st Anniversary: First of all, I want to wish my parents a very happy (belated) anniversary! Their anniversary was actually on Wednesday but they have made it 31 years together! I read today that the 31st Anniversary is the “Timepiece Anniversary”. Lame. I think someone just started naming items and assigning them to years. The 32nd Anniversary is the “Transportation Anniversary”. Get your ideas read Wayne…and no, you cannot buy the 1973 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. Not yet at least.

2. Market Spice Tea: Have you been to Seattle to the Pike Place Market? In the Pike Place Market they have a shop called Market Spice. They sell all sorts of teas (bags and loose leaf) and they sell a variety of spices. My aunt Sue said she has started buying all her spices there! Well my mom really likes Market Spice tea (she actually buys it online since we live in Colorado) so we decided to get her some right from the shop. We couldn’t leave without picking some up for us as well! It is such a great flavor. I thought my mom bought Market Spice tea that was a cinnamon-orange tea. Turns out, that IS Market Spice tea. Their signature tea has orange oils and cinnamon oils on the tea leaves making it soooo delicious. It is fantastic! We’ve been making this tea every morning since we got back. I can’t describe how fantastic it is… you’ll just have to try it!

3. Trigger Point: I recently saw this company in Train magazine and I am quite intrigued! I happen to have a love-hate relationship with foam rolling. It is pretty terrible (in a good way, if that makes sense) but it feels so much better after it is all over. It is like in yoga when you end up having to do the poses you hate because they are really uncomfortable… which is WHY you need to do them! I foam roll almost every night and cry a little while I do it (alright, alright that was a bit dramatic). Then I saw these Trigger Point Kits and I want one! It comes with several different items to help ease tight muscles in certain places. I’m a total fitness nerd but some of the products on this sight look awesome! I really want one of these GRID STK that is handheld. I think it would work wonders on the hamstrings

4. Black Friday Shopping: I honestly have never been into Black Friday Shopping. I guess I’ve always had to work on Black Friday so I don’t have to even decide if I’m going to go get some of those “great deals”. Are you into Black Friday shopping? According to StatisticBrain.com last year over $50 billion were spent on Black Friday. Holy cow. Last year was down actually for the average amount spent per person. Last year it was $380 and years before that it was over $400 per person. I repeat: Holy cow! There is also an entire website dedicated to Black Friday called TheBlackFriday.com. Woah. It lists all the big stores you’re probably familiar with: Target, Best Buy, Wal Mart, Kohl’s, JCPenney, etc. You can find news about Black Friday, get information about their sales, and even see who is starting their sales early. Who knew. Good luck with your shopping this year! Make sure you plan accordingly if you plan to purchase large items so you don’t end up like this……

Moped

5. Holidays = weight gain: Now that Thanksgiving is officially over it is time to move on to Christmas! Tons of celebrations and parties, dinners, cookies, desserts, delicious food….. Well it is fun to indulge in some of that but if you are worried about your waistline then check out this article from Greatist “How to Avoid Holiday Weight Gain“. Some tips discusses include eating before you begin drinking, using smaller plates, choosing protein, using tall & thin glasses for cocktails, drink plenty of water, etc. If you are worried about gaining a ton of weight over this next month then check out the article so you can work some of those ideas in to your daily life and celebrations! No deprivation, just being aware of it.

Have a great rest of your weekend and next week will be December! I plan to decorate the house this weekend to get into the Christmas spirit. It is one of my favorite times of year…. I love all the decorations. Have fun and be safe!
