Anything & Everything Friday – March 25th

March 25, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Easter 1

Time for Anything & Everything Friday where I discuss five different (sometimes random) topics of my choice. They are generally health related, whether lifestyle, food, or fitness. Sometimes they are not (um, taco bed from last week) but it just depends what is going on in this head! Today I’m talking about my Easter appetizer, a new workout song, and ways to use leftover Easter eggs! Let’s get to it…

New Workout Song: I don’t listen to music while I work out. Well, I listen to whatever the gym is playing, but I don’t have music on my phone or iPod or anything. However, I might need to start. My friend/coworker & I share music that we’ve heard and like, so we can jam out at the office. He told me about this song a while ago, but the first time I heard it I didn’t think it was anything special. I’ve heard it a couple more times since then, but the last time something changed. I fell in love with the song! I was actually working out Wednesday morning and it came on in the gym. Best. Workout. Song. Ever. It isn’t your typical workout song, but the beat it awesome and for some reason pumped me up while lifting. What song is it? Pill in Ibiza by Mike Posner. You might remember Mike Posner’s last hit “Cooler Than Me”. My favorite line of this new song is right off the bat “I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool”. Hahahaha even famous people are self conscious around other famous people! Listen to the song. Then listen to it again. And again. Then listen to it while you lift weights. If I had a workout playlist then this would be on it.

Easter: Easter is coming up on Sunday! No big plans, but my mom is having Easter dinner at her house. We are eating around 2:00 or 3:00pm and I am in charge of bringing an appetizer. I offered to bring an appetizer because I wanted to bring this awesome cheese ball. How adorable! It kept popping up on my Instagram account because I follow Eating Well. I finally broke down and officially decided to make it! It is actually a sweet cheese ball. Yes, sweet. They recommend serving it with graham crackers, apples, or ginger snaps. I might make another appetizer that is savory to go along with it.

Leftover Easter Eggs: More about Easter….will you be dying Easter eggs?!? I don’t know if we will or not. I love eating hardboiled eggs with a little salt & pepper, but some people cannot do that. Well, if you need to use those leftover Easter eggs and don’t want to eat them plain, then check out 15 Quick Recipes to Make with Leftover Easter Eggs. I need the asparagus with eggs and Dijon dressing in my life. Like today. Putting them on salads or into a sandwich are great options as well and super easy!

Pizza: Maybe I just loved this article because it was about pizza. Don’t judge me. I love pizza. I also love making my own pizza. I prefer frozen or homemade pizza, rather than take out pizza such a Pizza Hut or Dominos. This article is The Perfect Pizza Recipe For Every Diet and I found it on MSN’s Health & Fitness page. It has a pizza for the paleo diet, vegan diet, gluten free, etc. I am not a raw vegan, but the pizza for that diet looks awesome! Maybe it is the pesto. Maybe it is the thick tomatoes and peppers. Either way, I want it in my belly.

Bench Press: I haven’t updated you on this lately, but a while back I had mentioned wanting to increase my bench press. Well I did a chest workout earlier this week and had Donny to spot me. I did a quick warm-up with just the bar then immediately put 25lbs on each side. I did 10 reps with 95lbs, then 8 reps with 100 lbs, and 6 reps with 105lbs. I was going to go up to 110, but Donny told me to just go for it and do 115lb. I had told him earlier that I’d never benched over 110. I decided to go for it and got 1.5 reps hahaha yes, I count that half a rep. Just kidding I got one rep out of that and couldn’t do another. Now I have a goal of 115lb for two reps!

That’s it for today. Have a great weekend and an awesome Easter!
