Anything & Everything Friday – January 22nd

January 22, 2016 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Let the weekend begin

Happy Friday! My weekend is going to be very busy and very fun!!! How about yours? Any fun plans?! Sometimes just relaxing and laying low are my favorite plans….other times we pack out weekend full of adventures! Let the weekend begin.

Time for Anything & Everything Friday, where I discuss whatever I want to discuss with you. Lucky you!

1.Birthday Weekend: Next week is my birthday, yay! Donny is taking me on a surprise trip somewhere tonight. We have dinner and after-dinner activities planned and I have no idea what it is or where we are going! He did this for me last year and I enjoyed the surprise of it all. He is actually the one that keeps trying to tell me parts about it and I have to tell him no. Hahaha last year I started asking questions on our drive and found out along the way. We ended up going down to Colorado Springs and staying at The Broadmoor! It was amazing! The next day we went beer tasting around the city and hung out with his cousins. So much fun! Last year we stayed both Friday & Saturday night, but this is a one-night thing this year. I did hear him say that pedicures are involved Saturday (mostly because he wants a pedicure!). I’m really excited!!!

2.AFC Championship: Sunday is the Broncos-Patriots game and I’m so excited to be going! It will be so much fun and I’m excited that my dad is so excited to go. Between he and Donny it’s like dealing with kids that just can’t wait to go to Disney World! They are giddy about it and cannot wait for Sunday. I was doing some show prep the other day and came across this article. Hilarious! It is called “The Totally Real Text Convo Peyton & Eli Manning Had About Tom Brady“. Check it out… it is worth the read. P.S. It is not real.

3.Branched-Chain Amino Acids: I mentioned taking these in my post yesterday. I take one before I exercise and another right after. They make it in powder form so you can mix it in water and drink while you’re working out. I prefer the capsule version though. I try not to take too many supplements, but BCAAs are ones I stick with (whey & pre-workout are the other two). Check out this article “BCAAs: The many Benefits of Branched-Chain Amino Acid Supplements” to learn a little bit more about them. Most importantly they help keep your body from using your muscle for energy when you are eating in a calorie deficit (aka dieting). I personally want to keep the muscle that I’ve worked so hard to build!

4.Boosting Energy: Do you sometimes hit a wall about 2:00pm at the office?! This article hits home because just yesterday I hit a serious wall mid afternoon! I was doing fine throughout the day but then about 2:30pm I got so tired looking at my computer screen. I needed some of these tips right away! Here are 28 Science-Backed Ways To Boost Energy Instantly. Not all of them will work for everyone. For example, I’m not a power-nap person. However getting outside definitely gives me instant energy! Read through them and make a mental note of your favorites and the ones that are practical for you. Next time you start feeling tired on the job try one or two out to see what works for you!

5.Resolutions: We are 22 days into the new year, how are your resolutions going? Are you still going strong? Or have you already ditched them? Whether you dropped them completely or not, it is never too late to get back on track to meet your goals. I’ve been really good about my diet these last few weeks and I’m loving how I feel. I know this weekend will be full of splurges (alcohol, dessert, fried chicken), but I know I can start Monday back on track and not beat myself up over any of it. This article on Bodybuilding.com 5 Mistakes Keeping You From Your Resolutions not only talks about what some of the roadblocks might be, but offers solutions or them. Boom, let’s do this!

Have a great weekend. I’ll have a new recipe post on Monday and details about my surprise trip! Follow me on Instagram to see what Donny has in store for me @eatliftplayrepeat
