Hi, my name is Melissa and thanks for checking out my blog! I am 26 years old and I live in Colorado. When most people think of Colorado they think of this…
When in reality, what I see everyday is more like this….
I live in a somewhat small town (population around 12,000) about 60 miles east of Denver. I love it here. It is very rural and a very agriculture-based community. I got married in July 2013. My husband’s name is Donny and I am sure you will hear more about him and see plenty of pictures of him on this blog (as long as he will let me). Here is a picture of us on our wedding day. We both love golfing so we recreated the iconic photo of Arnold Palmer & Jack Nicklaus reading a putt…. I know, we are dorks.
We have one wonderful dog named Doug. He is a West Highland Terrier that is extremely spoiled! We do not have children yet. We are currently just enjoying being young, but sooner or later we’ll start poppin’ out the kiddos.
I work for the “family business” which is a group of seven radio stations, yes seven. It keeps us very busy. It is a fantastic job and I love it. It has brought me out of my comfort zone in so many ways and I have learned a ton working in the industry. My dad has worked at or owned radio stations since I was born, so needless to say I’ve grown up in the business! We get to do a lot of fun promotions and events in the community which is always entertaining.
So knowing my major in college and knowing what I do now you might wonder why did you get a degree in nutrition and then go to work in radio?? My answer is, great question. By my senior year of college I knew that I did not want to pursue a career in nutrition and dietetics, but that does not mean that I don’t still love the topic. I wanted to work for my dad in the business and am so happy I did. However, I have been looking for an outlet for my joy of food and health. Enter: food blog. A few years ago I discovered the wonderfully addicting website called Pinterest. I started pinning recipes that I liked and would test out. I then began trying to modify those a little to change the flavors or to make them healthy. I then realized most of these recipes came from food blogs. I started reading them almost daily and found to really enjoy them. A year or so later, I decided to try this whole blog-thing out on my own.
My goal for EatLiftPlayRepeat is to share with you my day to day experiences and hopefully help influence your food and fitness choices. I want to show you that healthy meals can be made quick and taste great! Everyone is busy these days and most people cannot spend two hours in the kitchen at night (well some might, but who wants to!). I also hope that you will consider adding weight training into your fitness routine, if you do not already. Weight training has done wonders for my body and it can do the same for yours. If you eat clean, lift heavy, and play daily you will see huge transformations in your body and how you feel. You’ll have more energy and after a while your pants might fit a little better. Nothing wrong with that!
