What do I love about training lower body? How powerful I feel when I can lift really heavy. I dig it. As much as I love lifting as heavy as possible on lower body, occasionally I like to change it up. In this Lower Body Triset workout you won’t be able to lift quite as heavy because each triset has a cardio burst included to work your legs in a different way.
I really liked this workout – it got me sweaty, to say the least. Honestly, I was completely beat by the end.
Now I say it wasn’t heavy, but it was still quite a bit of weight. I didn’t try to lift my bodyweight (like I do occasionally), but I still tried to squat 90lbs (that is pretty moderate for me) or so for 10 reps. That was plenty after doing lunges and jump squats on that first triset! Don’t sell yourself short. If you complete the first round and think you can add a little then try it! You can always pull the weight off. You’ll most likely know after about 6-7 reps if it is too heavy to continue at that weight.
Start the workout with 3 sets of 10 deadlifts. The first set I started with a decent weight (nothing too crazy) and then each set I added more weight. Deadlifts get your heart rate up in a hurry! Warm up worked like a charm.
Perform each triset three times through. Complete each round with minimal rest between exercises, but then rest 45-60 seconds before starting the next round. Try to go all out on the third (cardio burst) exercise and then give yourself a short amount of time to let your heart rate come down a bit.
