Anything & Everything Friday – October 2nd

October 2, 2015 by johnson_mel@hotmail.com

Casual Fridays

Happy Friday!!! This week flew by. Last week…. not so much. Plus, it is October!!! I love October. The leaves start changing, we start sleeping with the windows open, I get to wear sweaters & boots, pumpkin spice everything is available…..

So what is on my mind this week….

1. October means Halloween. Halloween means candy! I love candy every once in a while and it is hard to resist the night of Halloween (and after). But PopSugar put together a list that shows you the calories in different candies so you can choose accordingly. If you want a piece of candy, then eat a piece of candy. Just don’t eat an entire bag of candy. Check out “We’ve Unwrapped the Calorie Counts of Your Favorite Halloween Candy“. This might be useful if you are tracking your food and want to purchase accordingly.

2. Basement Bar. We are in the process of building a bar in our basement. We bought two different pieces from our local furniture store, a front bar (where you sit and can mix cocktails) and the back bar (storage for bottles, glasses, etc). It is pretty neat. We want to basically build the rest of the bar around these two pieces. Last week we got a quote for the flooring. We are looking at the porcelain tiles that look like wood. I think it looks really sharp when it is all said and done! I picked out some medium to medium-dark colored tiles to use and it would be similar to this….

What do you think?! Any recommendations? Have you used this or known someone who used this before? I’d love to hear about it.

3. Do I have BieberFever? No. Do I love both of Justin Bieber’s new songs? Yes. I have always liked his music to be honest. I really enjoy “What Do You Mean?” and also “Where Are You Now“.

4. Tokyo Joe’s. Last night we had to run up to Greeley to get food for the BBQ fundraiser Donny is cooking for tomorrow night (shameless plug – if you haven’t bought tickets yet you should….$20 all-you-can-eat BBQ). We stopped by Sam’s Club and then I requested Tokyo Joe’s for dinner. I tried it for the first time about a year ago and I love it! It is quick service but you can make it really healthy. I got the build-your-own-bowl with salmon and double veggies. You can choose a carb (white rice, brown rice, or udon noodles) or you can go carb-less and get double veggies! I’m all about double veggies! It was delicious.

5. Eggs. It is highly possible that Donny & I will turn into eggs. We have been going through a ton of eggs lately! I’ve been taking making egg whites with my meal prepping (4 per day as part of one meal) and then we eat them in the morning too! Donny will be gone quite a bit in October, which means I get lazy in regards to cooking dinner and end up eating breakfast-for-dinner quite a bit. We were buying so many 18-packs of eggs that we decided to buy the large case at Safeway with 5 dozen eggs in it. We eat them all! It is very similar in price (I was hoping it would be cheaper), but it saves us multiple trips to the store.

Have a great weekend!!!!
